A Day of Death Workshop with Zeph Mitchell
Sat Date: Nov 02 2019 From: 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM $40
Come celebrate The Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) with a 2.5 hour workshop led by Artist, Certified Death Doula and Yoga Teacher, Zeph Mitchell.
This workshop includes a mindful eating & drinking meditation, a back to back breathing meditation, a 1 hour Hatha Yoga practise, a death meditation, and will conclude with a discussion on a number of different topics involving death. There will also be journaling exercises throughout. Resources and time to answer questions will also be provided at the end of the Workshop.
The goal of this workshop is to explore our mortality through Yogic and mindfulness practises, and to have an open discussion on death to help understand and become more comfortable with our own inevitable death, and the deaths of our loved ones. By practising the art of dying, we simultaneously are practising the art of living.
CONTENT WARNING: This workshop contains discussion of death and contemplation of our own mortality. Participants will be involved in a guided meditation that involves the processes of death and imagining their own deaths.
Acro Yoga workshop with David Palfenier & Jessica Laporte
Saturday, November 30th from 1-4pm – 30 person capacity – $45
“I had no idea I could do that!” is what you’ll be saying throughout this 3-hour introduction to the fun and playfulness of Acro Yoga!
Join Om Yoga teachers Jessica Laporte and Dave Palfenier for this accessible practice which combines elements of partner acrobatics, Thai massage, and yoga. Acro Yoga allows adults to enjoy a sense of play while developing strength, flexibility and acrobatic techniques. As a partner exercise, it allows individuals to develop a sense of inclusion, understanding, and trust. Acro Yoga can be practiced by anybody… all you need is a willingness to try something new!
The workshop will begin with active mobility and warm up exercises, followed by some confidence-building trust exercises. We will then work through the foundational static postures and transitions, incorporating key principles and practices. We will finish with some acropeutics, and Thai massage.
This workshop is available for anyone and everyone but is most suitable for beginners or those relatively new to Acro Yoga. No partner necessary, come play and discover what you never knew was possible!
